Personnel note: Sharon Trost joins Anfield Consulting

Sharon Trost, a registered professional geologist and certified land use planner, has joined Tallahassee’s Anfield Consulting public affairs firm.

The firm announced the hire this week; Trost joined the team Sept. 12.

“Sharon is widely recognized for her energy, tenacity, and passion when it comes to water issues,” said Albert Balido, founder of Anfield Consulting—commonly referred to as “the water guys” around the Capitol.

“In a year when we expect water policy and the Everglades to once again dominate much of the legislative conversation, Sharon’s experience with the South Florida Water Management District and ability to think outside the box will provide our clients with a level of expertise unrivaled in Tallahassee,” he said in a statement.

Trost comes with solid bona fides: Thirty-five years in various management and executive positions with the District, most recently including Director of Regulation. SFWMD was created in 1972 by the Florida Legislature.

Before that, she was Chief Information Officer and Director of Information Technology, Deputy Director of Operations for Control and Maintenance Engineering, and Director of the Everglades Storm Water Program, the statement said.

Originally trained as a hydrogeologist, she has an undergraduate degree in geological sciences, a graduate degree in engineering management and “extensive graduate training in Hydrology, Hydraulics, and Water Resource Administration,” the firm said.

“Anfield specializes in securing funding for water issues and statewide water infrastructure and, as such, has become the go-to resource for legislators, staff, and media wanting to learn more about water issues in the state,” according to the statement.
