Personnel note: Anfield Consulting adds Miami-Dade water expert Edgar Fernandez

Anfield Consulting, the Tallahassee-based boutique public affairs firm, hired longtime Miami-Dade County administrator Edgar Fernandez on Thursday.

Fernandez brings more than 25 years of legislative experience, including 16 years with Miami-Dade County. His most recent role was as senior assistant overseeing policy and governmental affairs for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department.

Fernandez begins with Anfield on Feb. 27.

In a statement, Anfield founder Albert Balido cited Fernandez’s “years of legislative experience, impeccable relationships with the Legislature, and his passion for water issues,” making him a “perfect fit” for the firm.

Anfield — which Balido says is known in the Florida Capitol as “the water guys” — specializes in legislative and local government representation with an emphasis on water issues and statewide water infrastructure.

According to Balido, the firm expects to play “an active role” this year in the implementation of Amendment 1, the water and land conservation measure overwhelmingly passed by voters in 2014.
